Hello! I've been using Firefox since forever but never thought about using the sync feature until now. On laptop, when I press "sync now", a little spinning wheel appears for some seconds, then disappears. I take this means it has synced. On my android phone (Android 10 - phone's a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite), however, I seem to have encountered a bug. I connected the two devices together using the QR code and following the instructions, and in fact the phone appears in the connected devices on the laptop version of Firefox. However, when I open Firefox on Android and go to my Account Settings, under "Synchronise now" it says "Last synchronised: never", and tapping it prompts absolutely nothing. No animation, no popup, no phone lagging, no sign it has received any command. If I try going in the synced tabs section (near the private tabs one), there is a big Sync button on the bottom right - pressing it causes it to say "Synchronising..." for about 5 minutes or more, but once it's done, nothing happens, and it keeps saying last sync was never. If possible I'd like not to re-install the app as I have a lot of tabs that I don't want to currently lose.

Heyo, I know the support forums are not official - is there a way to file an official bug report for this?

Hi

This is the official support forum, where a team of volunteer contributors (like me) do our best to help.

If you log into your Firefox Account at https://accounts.firefox.com/signin (on either device), do you see both devices listed under Connected Services?

Oh, okay, sorry! I thought it might have been best to file a bug report but didn't find the option anywhere haha

Yes, they're both listed there! It even shows the correct time regarding the last time I used the app.

Edit - I also finally finished saving my tabs manually and reinstalled the Andoid app, but no changes about my issue even with a fresh install :(

Ahh I hope this doesn't show up as a double post, I tried editing my last answer but apparently it got deleted instead!

Yes, both devices are there - the timestamps showing last usage are correct as well. My edit was: I also managed to uninstall and reinstall the app, but this changed nothing in regards to this issue. :(

Also - I'm sorry, I'm used to user-ran support chats to often defer techinical bugs to other platforms where you can send in tickets or things like that, which is why I asked (I thought my issue was out of place here)

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or developers. If you want to file a bug report or feature request see File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.

Gotcha, thanks! It all looks a bit complicated but will take my time to read it and try to submit a good bug report. Unless of course you think this can be resolved with troubleshooting! If you have any other suggestion of things for me to try before filing in a bug report I'd like to try anything of course. Thank you for your time and explanation.

I am sorry, but I think this is one that I would welcome our developers looking at through your bug report.

In case someone finds this thread and has the exact same issue: here's the bug report I filed, if you want to follow how things develop. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Paul!
