Frequent "Already running...." error persists, in defiance of the many posted 'solutions' (W8.1, v29.0.1)

hello JamesAlexander, this is caused by a bug in firefox 29 when you clear your history on shutdown of the browser - please try it with firefox 30 beta instead: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/
