Firefox crashes
Hi guys,
Belated Happy 2015.
I'm a Windows XP service pack 2 user. (I know, I know, it's pretty ubiquitous in this part of the world.)
On the evening of January 2 my Firefox v34.0.5 browser began to crash repeatedly. Deactivating my add-ons only helped a little.
Other symptoms include being unable to stream videos and a loss of audio--malware?
By January 3 Firefox wouldn't even open anymore, crashing within seconds.
Everything seems to be working fine now that I...
1. Re-installed my graphics card.
2. Restarted Firefox
3. Removed 2 of 3 of my anti-malware/spyware scanners (AVG and anti-spyware, currently using Malwarebytes)
I have a strong suspicion my PC is infected. Do the symptoms I described confirm this?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
