Whenever I click on Firefox I'm taken to the desktop of the laptop and nothing happens. When I click on a saved file that is labled with Firefox the same thing happens. I was able to install the newest version from IE browser but it won't open and the message on the installation says that it can't use the update because Firefox is already open. How do I close it if I can't even find it.? It's a Windows 8.1 on an Acer R7

Problem solved........accidentally. I shut the laptop down, reopened it and, voila, Firefox available again. Is there something that is still wrong?

hello scoop, since these symptoms can sometimes be caused by malware active on a system, please first run a scan with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & microsoft safety scanner.
