Each time I use the back/forward buttons or the address bar I get unwanted drop downs. With the back button especially as I use it a lot and I get this really annoying and unhelpful drop down which I must click to remove. I want my FF to work as indicated in the help section and have those menus function with a right click only is that possible?

Having unwanted drop downs on commonly used buttons really throws sand in browsing.

Do you have extensions to clear recent history?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: 3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

This will sound a bit patronising but I don't mean it to be , of course. I tend to look for simple explanations. The drop down list, as well as the right click, will also show on a pull-down. Make sure you are clicking very cleanly as any slide will produce the drop down list.

I was able to find the problem. It turned out to be a conflict with an Add-on. The Add-on causing the conflict was the "Clear History" replacement.

Thanks for your efforts just the same.
