can't "get message" after updating thunderbird now 38.6.0 no changes

After updating and restating Thunderbird - now says 38.6.0 - I can't "get message". Sending works and there don't appear to be any changes. I know my email account is still working by checking on other device.

Using Norton's? someone else reinstalled Thunderbird and Norton's suddenly let it work properly.
