Downloaded T-bird 45.1.1 now system says my server won't accept password; it is correct and works for Gmail and Mail. How do I get TBird to work?

My outgoing and incoming server settings are correct. It's a .edu account, so they are different configurations. Mac's Mail and Gmail accounts are working. New Thunderbird version won't authenticate, says password is incorrect, asks to verify settings. Please help. Thunderbird is my preferred email system.

Do you have an anti virus program? check it is allowing Thunderbird access to the internet.

Thanks, Matt, but that is apparently not the problem. Scan is clear. Settings for e-mail are accurate, and unchanged since before the installation of the new version. I appreciate the response, and remain open to other things I might try.

"Scan is clear" apparently you did not understand what I was saying. Your anti virus program is the problem. Scanning with it will not fix that.
