While logged into a social media, I cannot use the browse command to open a file to upload pictures from my cell phone, WITHOUT a popup asking for permission for firefox to record sound AND take photos/video. That is a new request, as of 5-1-2017.

I denied both requests, and am now unable to retrieve image from my phone.

Why is that?

In version 6 and newer Android devices the user must grant access to applications that want to use information such as your location or camera.

There is a wall between the Android files and Firefox. Firefox asked for a way through the wall to access files. You said no. Thus Firefox is unable to upload a file.

You can grant Firefox access to the files in the Android application settings.

Ok, makes sense. Thanks, I will try that to see if that works.

To allow firefox image/video acces, aka break through firewall, was a success in one case. However, by allowing access on another, the browse files window doesn't appear. Perhaps that may be an issue with the site itself, and I will notify them directly.

I also checked my permissions, and firefox has image and video permissions.

Well. It answered my question but it is nevertheless very annoying and I would prefer to maintain my privacy.

Madness, isn't it. Storage permission is the logical choice if you want to upload a file from your phone and, yet, this is not what happens. :-/
