I use Firefox 64 Bit on Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit on a daily base.

I switched from Fx 56 to Fx57 beta 14 by editing the "channels-prefs.js" in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref

This worked as expected and i was testing the beta for some days till it was released.

Then i wanted to switch back to the release channel but this does not work!

Neither editing the "channel-prefs.js" nor the "app.update.channel = relase" in about:config changed a thing.

I decided to uninstall the Fx 57 on beta channel, rebooted and installed the Fx 57 release version - with no success!  :-(

I uploaded some data: [url=http://abload.de/image.php?img=app_update_channelk7scc.jpg][img]https://abload.de/thumb/app_update_channelk7scc.jpg/img/url [url=http://filehorst.de/d/cqrbmEzv]Datei von filehorst.de laden/url

Thanks in advance for your help LAZA

Solução escolhida

I could solve the problem by:

- uninstalling Firefox

- deleting all files and dirs in the "Mozilla Firefox" dir

- Reboot

- download Fx 57 again from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/57.0/win64/de/

- installing

Thanks for your fast help and response.

The release channel has Firefox 57, Beta is at 58 . You are currently on the release channel judging from your user agent.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0

But i have the option to upgrade to Fx 58 beta 4

You screwed up majorly. You aren't supposed to mess with those prefs, its not the right way to change channels... You could have installed 57 beta over 56 with almost no issues but you went this weird way, why? Go back to those prefs you modified, right click and reset.

What does about:support say in "Update Channel"? If it says beta, uninstall WITHOUT removing your personal settings and data on the uninstaller, grab a fresh 57 install from getfirefox.com and install it. You should be on the release channel after.

channnel-prefs.js is set back to release as i described.

I uninstalled the Fx 57 on beta channel and installed a Fx 57 from release channel but with no success.

As you can see on one of the pics the "app.updatechannel = release" !

Imho Firefox here something screwed up... cause the settings where ignored  :-(
