I have no idea what the heck youtube is doing again, but apparently they've set users up for a new layout (again....it happens automatically when you log in) which made ff nightly freeze, i switched back to the old youtube option, which i only just saw today............and it worked, it isnt freezing anymore and its working flawlessly
What and where is "the old Youtube option" please?
Just click on your profile picture on youtube and then way down, it'll say "restore old youtube" click on it. i hope it fixes your issue too!

To be expected when running a Beta.
Try : Go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Help ? --> Troubleshooting Information Page and take a look in the Accessibility section if accessibility is set to "true" there. if yes, go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.
Update your Video Card Drivers
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Already tried that - Not the fix. The reason I'm running the beta is because it might have a fix to this problem sooner since it refreshes nightly.
Please remember : If you have a bug, file a bug report. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ Bug Writing Guidelines : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines
Was not able to create a Bugzilla account due to the excruciatingly burdensome password and registration requirements. I have lost my patience. Firefox is a bad user experience. I'm finding Internet Explorer to be much more user friendly and stable platform.
What ever you decide.
You do realize you realize you are Testing Nightly channel builds of 59.0a1 and not say Firefox 57.0 Release.
The Nightly development channel gets checkins with two updates each day. Sometimes there can be issue(s) until fixed, finished or reverted. These builds are meant more for Testers and devs and not regular users.
If you want to test the Nightly builds then you may want to watch the Builds threads is say http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23
Beta channel builds generally get say nine to fourteen builds of a version on average.
Release < Beta (b#) < Nightly (a1)
There is also the Developers Edition (Aurora) as same version as Beta but with dev features.
Yes, I realize I am using Nightly. The problem with the slow browser hanging up and freezing occurs in the recent Firefox 57.0 Release which has no fix in sight for the near future so I was hoping that using a beta version which sees nightly refreshing I might see a bug fix sooner. But I'm seeing that it's going to be a while yet before folks over at Firefox or anyone on this Forum figures out the issue. All I'm seeing is instructions on how to use the standard option settings or some back door, "warranty violating" rigging which I am uncomfortable performing and presents Firefox as an unfinished products needing home hack mods to work properly.
You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
Also make sure you allow the beta version in your security software.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

I have no profile and no security software. The problem is a bug in the new Firefox 57.0 Release. There is nothing the end user can do. I am asking what Mozilla is going to do about it please.
Testy moderators more concerned with etiquette than solving the problem. I have been blocked by moderators and problem remains unsolved. Bravo! That's progress!

You are not comfortable in doing any about:config or such yet you think you are comfortable with being a Tester in using a unstable development channel build (Nightly) 59.0a1?. As said this gets updates twice a day so there can be high potential of issues.
You are not using the more stable Beta channel as the Beta is Firefox 58.0b# with current Beta build being 58.0b5 with 58.0b6 coming.

I repeat. The problem with Firefox slowing down is a problem with the main recent release. On Youtube page a yellow bar appears across the top of the page reading: "A web page is slowing down your browser... Wait?... Stop it?
This is not on the Beta version but on the main recent released version. Many other users have reported the issue but nobody has provided a solution that addresses the matter.
Not finding a solution to this issue anywhere. Frustrating.

Oh my. I have the same problem with Firefox and hanging/freezing on Facebook - ALL the Time! I am able to use it for 4-6 minutes and then it freezes.
I then have to use task manager, end the session and then a message appears that "Plug in Container for Firefox has stopped working and has to close...."
It has been that way for a really. really long time. I'm tired of it.
I shouldn't have to search article after article and then follow very confusing instructions (that include links, more instructions, links to other articles, etc) that leaves me confounded and frustrated !
I am sorry that this may offend others but we are looking for clear, concise answers to really basic issues.

I couldn't agree more. I just came back to Firefox after a few years away, hoping that it would be the sole remaining usable browser on Mac, and it's a nightmare, on a fresh install less than 24 hours old. Bugs, tabs "crashing" and erasing my work, constant unnecessary annoying popups about scripts or pages "slowing down" the browser, and I come to the forums for help and just find people sniping at each other and not being helpful at all. I just want to turn off the g*dd*m "A page is slowing down your browser" message. I already turned off the warning for scripts slowing things down in about:config, and that didn't stop the message. What a nightmare. This used to be a good browser, now it's barely usable.
I'm confused and concerned that I received an email (not my inbox here at firefox, but my personal email addy) and the message is the reply posted of mikirby. I assume that he sent it to me? Or, not?
Why did his reply to my post (mrm1) go to my personal email ? If another user replies to my post in the same thread, shouldn't the email go to my inbox here in firefox/mozilla?
Very unhappy and unsure just what happened but still very concerned...

You likely have it set so any replies to threads you have started or replied in will have a email notification sent to the email you used to create your mrm1 account on support.mozilla.org
