There no such thing as 8.0. What are you referring to?
Note that this is likely about Firefox 58.0 with a missing leading '5'.
You can check if you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case the Refresh feature in Firefox has been used and a new profile has been created.
If you have this folder on the desktop then try to recover logins.json and key3.db.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Otherwise you can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of these files available.
- right-click: Properties -> Previous Versions

Firefox 8.0 certainly existed back in 2011. I agree with cor-el that it was likely a typo on 58.0 and if you look at system details. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

Hi Cor-el. I do have a folder "old firefox data" but it doesn't contain the two files you mention. I think I will just have to type in passwords as and when I need them. Thanks for your help.

Maybe (just maybe) not necessary - another user reported that all he did was reboot his computer.
See his last post in this thread : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1183565
Worth a try .......
Thanks, I reboot every day. Didn't solve the problem.

Bummer !
How about the Refresh cor-el suggested - have you tried that ?
