Bussiness e mail keeps crashing losers all e mails and then asks for password why is this?

two times this year now thunderbird has crashed and we have lost all our e mails once we put the password in. then it keeps asking to re enter the password even though it is the right password. How can we stop this crashing again? and why dose it keep asking for the password again?
