Something changed my homepage and search options on one of two laptops that I have. The one that I have the problem with no longer starts up with the search engine page but goes to MSN|Outlook, Office, Skype, Bing homepage and I can't change it.

Comparing the two laptops side by side, I find that in "options", "Search","One-Click Search Engines" box the line with a Magnifying glass and the word Search beside it is missing. The good laptop opens with New Tab in the header and "Search with Google or enter address" in the address bar. The bad laptop just goes to MSN.

How do I get the search page back?

Hi, open Options (Home) and click on Restore Defaults.

If that doesn't work, check your Firefox Desktop shortcut for corruption: Right click on it > Properties, and in Target, make sure there is no sign of anything other than Firefox. If there is, delete that part of it. Or if it's easier, you can just delete it and recreate a new shortcut. More: Wrong home page opens when I start Firefox - How to fix.

To: Westend, Here are the screenshots. The first image is the homepage I want for both laptops. The second and third images are the same on both laptops. The forth image is the one that is what I am talking about . The blue highlight is missing on the fifth image. TO: Scribe, I have already tried those fixes.

In your 4th screenshot, the blue highlighted Search (with magnifying glass icon), is not a default search engine so should not be there unless you have added it - or it has been added by malware. Select it > Remove it, or click Restore Default Search Engines Search with the Firefox Address Bar.

It's possible that malware is changing the default (as in your 1st screenshot) Home/New Tab page to MSN, so you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
