Launch thunderbird with chosen profile from command line?

For years I've used profile switcher add-on to facilitate using two profiles. The latest update breaks Profile switcher. So I need to use profile manager to launch thunderbird - which gives an option to DELETE a profile. As this gives the possibility of making a mistake I'd like to launch thunderbird directly without using profile manager, but still use two profiles.

So can I say create two desktop icons that will launch TB into the chosen profile?

Thanks sfhowes!

Recent versions of windows 10 dont allow creation of shortcuts in the programs folders. However I created shortcuts on the desktop - here's an example

Start in: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird" Target: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -P "default"

and it works! So does the alternate profile with the same settings except for the profile name.

Easy when you know how.

See this explanation:

Once TB is running, you can also launch different profiles from Help/Troubleshooting, about:profiles.
