Thunderbird update erased my gmail inbox messages!

It looks like Thunderbird updated yesterday (without my permission), as reflected by an updated icons. I now discover that all of my Gmail inbox messages are missing - BOTH from Thunderbird AND from my gmail account! That is YEARS worth of important emails gone! These emails were not sent to trash or deleted emails. I MUST recover these emails! I've tried command prompt thunderbird.exe -p solution. Does not help.

Are you saying that you log into your gmail with a browser and go to the the label all mail in gmail is empty? (you might need to enable it in your gmail settings in the browser.)

Note that if you deleted the mail in the all mail folder you have deleted all your mail from google.
