Since TB91 is a major update and developed differently than TB78 or earlier, it requires a new installation. 'At first export your local contacts in .vcf format and local calendars'. If your account is IMAP and you keep provider's contacts list and calendar, there is no need to export since everything is kept on the provider's server.

Delete Thunderbird folder from your local and roaming folders. Uninstall TB78 or earlier. Install TB91 and create a new profile. Create your accounts. Then import if necessary contacts and calendars. By the way I'm 61 years old and keep learning.

I did the same from TB78 to TB91 and it runs like a charm.

I suggest you have a look both in Thunderbird at the filters menu and on your web mail for filters or rules. Usually this sort of oddity comes from an unintentional side effect of a message filter.

Thanks for your quick reply. However I am pretty old and would not know how to navigate filters or even understand what they do. I didn't think I even had any filters set. I was updated to TB 78.13 and was under the impression it was easy to work around but for we dummies, It is just a big headache. thanks again for your reply. I really appreciate it.

Thanks Lampros. Do you know if I Delete all Thunderbird 78.13 version items and then install all new Thunderbird, will I lose my existing email address or can I keep it with the new?

That is just plain wrong, I ask you again to refrain from offering that advice. There will be about 10 million people updated automatically using their existing profiles in the coming weeks. We do not need this sort of fallacious information floating around when the inevitable few have issues.

Simply creating a new profile does not identify what caused the issue in the first place. These weeks from initial release until automatic updates are enabled allow us to identify and fix update bugs encountered by the early adopters. I have even been known to have the upgrade from hell.

We do have an issue where anti virus products in an attempt to remain relevant have now started being upgrade advisors and ushering in a host of the less technically skilled individuals into the early adopter group. But the aim of identifying and fixing issues remains.

Hi Matt and thanks for this information on the new 91 upgrade. But this looks like it is still going to be a few months before that upgrade release which I am understanding to be late Nov. '21. And what I am afraid will probably happen is that what ever is causing my ebay mail to go into the Sent folder instead of the InBox will not be eliminated because it will still be in the system. Thanks again for your time.

That was why I was going through the steps trying to determine what the actual issue was. But your have followed all this advice that might have fixed the issue, or not. AS we have no idea what the cause was. Having it happen to you has not even added to the collective knowledge for when someone else with the issue comes along. SO we are back to create another profile. Tedious, useless and ultimately very very frustrating.

Yes, it is beyond frustrating. I want to mention that when I rt click on those ebay messages that are in my sent folder I can send it to my INBox and it goes in just fine. Also I can just forward it from the Sent Folder and it goes into my INBox just fine. Crazy! Anyway thanks again for your patience and time.

Ebay going to sent folder not in Box solved. I again deleted Thunderbird mail and this time i also deleted all other files/folders containing anything with TB. I also deleted the microsoft edge mail program. Then I logged in to my comcast mail and saw that the ebay mail was still going into the sent folder. So I suspected my problem had to be with comcast. So again I went back to comcast after already having been there many times. Anyway comcast finally found the glitch. And I reloaded Thunderbird again and everything is fine now. I want to thank everone here who responed to my questions. I am just a 85 year old dummy when it comes to computers. So please forgive me for not understanding a lot of this stuff.
