I'm using v56.0.2 as it was the last before Mozilla took away the extensions that I depend on. Up until recently, it's worked flawlessly on Facebook. Now, within the last week or so, I can no longer type in the comments box on someone else's post. The cursor is there and flashing but when I type, the cursor only flickers but no text. Other browsers don't have this issue so I'm confident that it's nothing to do with my FB profile. Typing in the search box or creating a new post works fine. I just can't type comments.

I understand how you feel. I didn’t like where Firefox Quantum was going. So, I stopped updating at v54. So far, no real issues.

I have noticed, however, that some websites don't work properly.

Hi FredMcD, Thank you for your assistance.

Unfortunately, 56.0.2 does not have SmartBlock so the links you provided do not have a solution for me. I have done everything that I can think of to avoid blocking content and accept third-party cookies.
