Signing to Thunderbird with Windows Hello
A Thunderbird user can see in clear all email acc passwords saved in it. To protect that info, Tbird GUI can be accessed via a saved Primary Password as an option. It was good for earlier Windows versions, but now Windows Hello is widespread for various app authentication, often via addons. Is there a way to use Windows Hello for starting a latest release Tbird session in Windows 10 & 11? It looks such an option exists in Firefox for awhile.

given Thunderbird and Firefox share low level code, and the preference signon.management.page.os-auth.enabled exists in Thunderbird, I think all you would need to do is enable the preference using the config editor
I so do not have thumbprint reader of other bio-metric hardware as I have no use for them I can not test it. So perhaps you could try it and report your results.
Just be aware the same caveates will hold true as do for Firefox https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1318874

Thanks Matt. Indeed it works, protecting access to acc passwords in launched Tbird, or when adding a Primary Password. Since Tbird's purpose is different from Firefox's, WinHello prompt should popup INSTEAD of Primary Password's (as Settings option) when launching Tbird to protect both user email DB content and saved passwords from unauthorized access. Any way to accomplish that?

Thanks Matt, I did. Indeed it works, but limited to viewing acc passwords in already started Tbird, or adding a Primary Password. Tbird's purpose is very different from Firefox's, and WinHello should popup INSTEAD of Primary Password prompt when launching Tbird to protect both user email DB content and saved passwords from unauthorized access.
It should work similar to WinHello plugin for KeePass Password Manager as an example. Failing to enter PIN or Fingerprint results in empty KeePass window open with content hidden. Of course, its also helpful to keep Tbird Profile on an encrypted drive or folder for extra security. Would you help promoting such improvement to Tbird team to keep it on pair with modern OS user expectations?
