Is it possible to read in Thunderbird email messages encrypted with "Office 365 Message Encryption" ?

When such email is received, it says that:

"XXX has sent you a protected message. " Then there is a blue "Read the message" which takes me to Office 365 OWA and from there I can read the email. But I was wondering if it's possible to read it directly from Thunderbird?

I'm using Thunderbird 91.5.0 (32-bit) with IMAP connection to outlook.office365.com

Thanks

I cannot give you specifics, as I have not used Exchange extensively. However, there are two addons that I think offer that feature: ExQuilla at https://www.exquilla.com/ and Owl at https://www.beonex.com/owl/*

Neither is free, but again, neither is expensive. I used ExQuilla for a few years while working with a company using Exchange, and the experience was seamless. YMMV. Just my two cents... Offered informally, not officially.

No, Thunderbird cannot read those messages. It's a proprietary Microsoft format, and part of the Azure Information Protection (AIP) solution. AIP is a cloud-based solution that enables organizations to discover, classify, and protect documents and emails by applying labels to content. It extends the labeling and classification functionality provided by Microsoft 365.
