How do I get Firefox from downloading PDF files
I use to click on PDF files and they would open and not download to my download folder. Well now every time i click on a PDF file it downloads it. I have tried every option in settings/general/apps and they still download in a folder. So I thought I would try MS edge and it does the same thing. Is it not the browser and was it in a MS update? It has never done this before. I don't want all these PDF files downloaded!

No matter which action you pick, the browser has to download the file for it to be displayed in browser or any other app. see screenshot
Version 101 is expected to contain a preference in about:config to nominate your temp file as the destination: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1738574#c127
In the meantime, you can tinker with Settings > General > Downloads to achieve the same thing. (Remove the blank space in the link.) https://www.reddit. com/r/firefox/comments/trnirr/a_work_around_for_open_with_option_for_downloads/
I been using firefox for awhile and it did not save all the pdf files on my hard drive automatic. I just tried MS edge and its not saving them now just opening them to let me view which is what i want. So maybe I will have to go back to MS Edge. I look at alot of pdf files and I don't want them all saved on my computer and then have to go in and delete them all.

I have the same problem. The reason I used Firefox was for PDF handling. That reason is gone...
