I use thunderbird to access my work email (based on Google IMAP). This requires login using a password and a 2-factor authentication (via a Yubikey). However once I login via thunderbird once I NEVER have to do this again! This is VERY insecure. Is there any way to enforce a new login every time I start Thunderbird?

Yes, at tools>settings>privacy&security, set a primary password and you will be prompted every time you start thunderbird.

Hi David, thanks for the response. I thought that might be one, if non optimal solution. I was looking for a solution that enforced the security of 2FA, and existing OAuth system. Rather than an additional basic password on top of it. I'm confused that my IMAP server doesn't require a new login every time, as the other systems that use this authentication often require a login every 24 hours.. sometimes every hour!
