How to turn off autofill when it's not password related?

more options

Every time I log on a site where I have previously searched something in their search bar, whatever I searched either gets auto-filled (even if I want to search something else) or appears in the bottom of the search bar. They disappear if I clear all my search history but then I have to re-log into every site on my browser.

How can I delete those suggestions/make them not appear anymore without loging out? I have tried checking the autofill settings but everything is password related.

Disable "Remember search and form history", it won't affect passwords.

To clear individual form history suggestions:

Usually, you can do this with the keyboard. Arrow down into the autofill suggestion list, highlight an entry to remove, and press the Delete key. Repeat as needed.

If the form is pre-filled even without a form history entry, it might be loading from cache or stored in a cookie. To test that:

(A) Reload the page bypassing the cache using either:

  • Hold down Shift while clicking the Reload button on the toolbar
  • Ctrl+Shift+R
  • Ctrl+F5

(B) Clear the site's cookies:

Click the lock icon at the left end of the address bar. After a moment, a "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button should appear at the bottom. Go ahead and click that. Firefox will ask you to confirm; go ahead and confirm.

Then reload the page bypassing the cache as in Step (A).

Do either of those flush it?
