After Thunderbird upgrade to Supernova, clicking the "Mark as" button no longer toggles the status of the message

After Thunderbird upgrade to Supernova on my Windows desktop, the "Mark as" button on the toolbar no longer toggles the status of the message. This was a really convenient feature.

Is there a way to get the "Mark as" button to work as it did before? If not, is there a way I can revert back to the pre-Supernova Thunderbird? It was a perfect program, but now with the change to the "Mark as" button and with the mouse scroll wheel no longer working (just in Supernova, works fine for everything else in Windows), seems like Thunderbird took steps backwards with Supernova.

It was nice to be able to review my emails all with the mouse, without any keystrokes. Would it be possible to get the "Mark as" toggle feature built into Supernova? Or is there a safe way to revert back to pre-Supernova without losing all my emails?
