Hi,

I have been watching YouTube videos on firefox android and have been clicking ful screen and landscape has been fine. Then over night a few days ago, it stopped. When I turn the phone to landscape, the video sound is playing but the video is blank, with no picture. It is fine in normal portrait just not when I click full screen when it was working.

I've cleared the cache and history, I've even unistalled Firefox and reinstalled it twice, once from the play store and once as the apk but to no avail. I have also disabled adons, tried the picture to picture, and autoplay but nothing works.

Any help to rectify and return my viewing would be appreciated.

Ohhh I missed off that if I enable the app as desktop site then the orientation for landscape works.

Thanks for reporting this bug, JT! You said video had been fine "until a few days ago" (before your post on 2023-11-24). That suggests this bug is a regression in Firefox 120, which was released on 2023-11-21. I'll add that note to the Bugzilla bug report.

JT, are you using YouTube dark mode? Another user reported a similar problem with YouTube in full screen mode, but they discovered that it was caused by YouTube dark mode (aka YouTube "ambient mode" enabled in YouTube Profile icon > Settings > General > Appearance > Dark theme). Does turning dark mode on or off make a difference?

I enabled YouTube ambient mode (by switching to YouTube dark mode: YouTube Profile icon > Settings > General > Appearance > Dark theme), but I wasn't able to reproduce the problem on my Moto G5 (Android 8.1) or my Samsung Galaxy A32 (Android 13).
