Anytime I try to go to a search result I am directed to a advertising search.
The last couple of days anytime I do a Google search and click on a result a blank page with "Submit Query" pops up and then I am taken to some search directory instead of the site I'm looking for. I have BitDefender installed and have run a scan but can find no infection.

You need to thoroughly check for malware infection on your system. Note that you need to run several different malware removal tools since each of them can remove only certain types of malware. See this article for a list of spyware removal tools: Spyware on Windows
