I wish to get an exception for an untrusted website (which is important and fine) but it says no certificate necessary so will not add exception yet still will not work because the certificate 'expired' last month.

I wish to access my web-based school email and have done so for two years and suddenly it will not work. It says the site is untrusted and validation is needed. I click 'I understand the risks' then 'Add Exception'. It comes up with 'This site provides valid, verified identification. There is no need to add an exception'. The Add Exception button is not live. When I get details it tells me 'could not verify this certificate because it has expired'. How can I get Firefox to accept my Add Exception?

Sorry about that, I seem to have missed that you are on a Mac.
On Mac you use Firefox > Preferences instead of Firefox/Tools > Options

Try to delete the old certificate in the Certificate Manager if one is stored there already to see if that makes it possible to store a new certificate.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced : Encryption: Certificates - View Certificates (try Servers or Authorities)

Thank you for your reply. Where do I find the Certificate Manager? There are no Options in the Firefox tools. Is it stored somewhere in the Mac? Hope you can help.
