how do I remove Yahoo toolbar?
Hi, Somehow Yahoo toolbar has downloaded onto my pc. Yes I have downloaded a new software but it never asked me if I wanted Yahoo. I am very vigilant when I download software & I swear there was no mention of Yahoo.
I've been to the remove a software from the control panel on my windows 7 pc but there is no mention of Yahoo.
I've also checked the extensions on Firefox add ons but there is no Yahoo there either.
I've even removed Yahoo from the Registry and...
Yahoo still comes up!!! I've searched various forums etc & none of them mention the problem I have.
Does anyone please know how to remove this toolbar I do not want from my pc?
Any help please would be appreciated.

Yahoo has provided help on removing the toolbar here http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/toolbar/toolbar2ff/general/general-07.html Malware may have been installed on your computer so download a free Microsoft Security Scan here http://microsoft.com/security/scanner and tell me the result.

Very simple procidere, Click on Tools, Addon manager, locate Default tab, delete it.Done deal.
Gisi is right. If you still see the toolbar, check the firefox menu (file, edit, view, history, bookmarks.....) and you'll see a YAHOO!
Select Yahoo then select dont show toolbar.
Dont know how i missed that!
Still sneaky of yahoo to make it so hard to uninstall.
Okay I have gone deep down an tried removing this crap software that yahoo calls easy to remove. The new yahoo toolbar there are not addon's or anything else in the manager. I have ran through an deleted all the yahoo anything inside the registry of my windows 7 box (64 bit). I have been all over the firefox program folders (including add data an other hidden folders. I have even uninstalled firefox 12 an did a full clean up of registry an everything else here. I do not just want to hide the toolbar I would LOVE to get rid of it all together. This new yahoo toolbar that my ex downloaded on here is worse than SPYWARE or any other kind of MALWARE. I have googled this problem an people seem to think it gets rid of the issue by hiding it but they are still collecting data while its still installed and this is very annoying in itself. Any help on the termination of this would be great yahoo refuses to call this an issue.
see post under this one for the fix....going to leave the rage post here for the time being.....

okay while in the mist of posting that I was doing some digging in other hidden file areas....get ready to cheer all...i think we can nuke it now.
travel on your windows 7 boxes to C:\Users\<your user name here>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\uh07uw1k.default\extensions\{635abd67-4fe9-1b23-4f01-e679fa7484c1}
take note that there are a bunch of yahoo files and folders hidden inside there....
NUKE (delete) the folder 635abd67-4fe9-1b23-4f01-e679fa7484c1 an yahoo toolbar and all of its trash is gone.if its not named the same for you just keep hunting in there and compare the install date of the toolbar and the date the files where made and you too can be free of this massive pain in the @$$ yahoo has created to collect data an just down right annoy you with.
Hope that this has helped all of you.....
Thanks Microfire. That helped. I'm free of the yahoo pathogen!
Just a little note: if you are searching for this folder, be sure to use windows "Advanced Search" and click the box "include non indexed, system and hidden files".
Once I located it, it was a bitch to delete. System said I did not have permission to delete this folder. What ultimately worked was deleting the contents of the folders (and subfolders) as much as possible. I even cut and paste what was left onto my desktop. Then I renamed the folder. When it still wasnt deleting, I realized the folder may have been in use because I had firefox and yahoo messenger open. I shut those down and the folder would then delete.
Big props to microfire for the solution.
Well im happy someone other than me had that annoying virus like problems....and im sorry I forgot to add yes u need firefox/aurora closed before you can nuke the issue....if you are having permission issues look here for help with that.....
I love any chance I get to help with the community here....I will soon have many more helpful add-ons and fixes up and running too to help stop this kind of issue from happening again....
I shot a video http://www.screencast.com/users/GISI2008/folders/Jing/media/dbbf15e0-0687-4cb7-becc-8e4ef45ad414 on how to do this quick. The only thing I don't like is my accent. If anyone of you have problem with that shoot me an email and re shoot this video in her majesty the queen English neutral accent.:)
1. got to tools 2. addons 3. look for the file that is not called yahoo as this is disguized. 4. watch my video. 5. go up the right hand coner of the browser, search field, look for hardly visible arrow. Click on that look for Yahoo tool bar. 5. Manage Search Engines. You'll see the yahoo annoying crap, Nuke it! That is all. Thank me later.
Great vid gisi....i forgot to add that tid bit as well there because I already yanked that one out...next im going to test a few more things inside the browser to see if I still have any more yahoo "ghost" left in here....I will update as I find them.....
Thanks all
FF 14 I have tried both deleting the yahoo.xml file and your method. This toolbar will not uninstall. Going to AppData and deleting the Yahoo directory only sees it recreated when FF is restarted.
I have even used the Revo Uninstaller to remove the bar. While it appears to have been uninstalled it is still there each time FF is opened.
What is more annoying is I chose to NOT install the toolbar when I upgraded my copy of Yahoo.
make sure that all browsers are closed along with any yahoo tools such as yahoo messenger and so on...then do the delete if that don't work for you i will fire up my vmware again and try some other ways of killing yahoo...
The Yahoo TB is only showing up in FF 14. All browsers are closed prior to removal attempt, Messenger was opened. What is needed is to find the routine that re-installs the Yahoo directory and files in AppsData every time FF is loaded. I can try ProcExp to see if that helps Deleted C:\Users\administrator\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\b6yv5kxi.default\Yahoo! Inc Loaded FF and the Yahoo TB is back
ProcExp by PID revealed nothing

firefox 13.0.1 funnelcake jul 2012 under windows 7.
upper left, Firefox button - click
dropdown appears.
point mouse to options, which automatically expands.
you should see "Yahoo! Toolbar" there, with a checkmark.
click to uncheck it.
the Yahoo! Toolbar should disappear - immediately, no need to restart firefox.

Hi: I just went through this annoyance and the irritation of Yahoo doing this. Here's my solution which I stumbled on. Open up Firefox tool bar top left of your screen, go to options, follow the arrow down until you see yahoo toolbar checked off. Simply click on the check mark to "uncheck it" . The Yahoo tool bar instantly disappeared. I can't tell you if there is any further problems happening behind the scene but it eliminated the problem for me.
