When I click on a link within a specific website, why won't it connect and open?
When I click on a link, (which should produce the url below) from my open universtiy tutorhome page I am taken back to the sign in page> I should not have to sign in again, and even when I do, my sign in details disappear and there is still no connection. When I click on the back arrow, I am returned to the previous page, and still signed in.

Does Firefox work ok on this forum, and if you sign out are you able to open with your saved password ?
I ask about this site as we tend to understand it, whereas we have no idea about your Open University site.
Have you seen
Firefox works fine on the Open University site with all links opening no problem, it is just the link to collecting marking that is problematic. Using Internet Explorer the link to my marking works fine (but nothing else does!). I don't save passwords. After signing out I am able to sign back in using my username and password.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:
- Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
Also make sure that you allow cookies from that site.
All of the above are already set as you suggest. I think that the problem has been caused by something that I have done because when I use a differenct computer/laptop there is no problem at all. I am going to contact the university computer helpdesk tomorrow and see if they can locate the problem, it can't be Firefox or it would happen wherever I logged on. Thank yu both for your suggestions and assistance.
If the server doesn't recognize that you are logged on then that usually means that the cookie that identifies you isn't send to the server.
If the cookie settings in Firefox are OK then make sure that an extension or security software on your computer isn't blocking the cookies.
If you use the Back button then Firefox may be loading the page from the cache.
Do you still get the correct page if you refresh via F5 or Ctrl + F5 (bypass cache)?

It is sorted, thank you and I didn't do anything! No idea why it didn't work and no idea how it fixed itself, just grateful that it does. Thank you so much for your time and suggestions.
