Hi Vinn61,

The fact that both Firefox and IE8 have the same issues suggests to me that this isn't a Firefox-specific problem. However, it's strange that one browser out of three would download much faster.

On what website are you experiencing this difference in download speed -- all sites? Have you tried a download speed check site and compared the results? Depending on your location, there are various options. If you're in the UK for example, you can try http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/. Even if you're not in the UK, that page generally works anyway, but you might not get the maximum possible speed since it might be far away from where you live -- you should still be able to tell if there's a radical difference between Firefox and Chrome though.

Also, what is your actual broadband speed as advertised by AT&T?

Cheers, David

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
