Each time I open Firefox, after a few minutes, everytime I try to open a link, click on a button, etc, it automatically opens that link or button in a new tab. Also, when I open a folder on my toolbar, that has subfolders in it, a window pops up that asks me if I want to open all the subfolders at once and that its going to take a while to do so. How do I fix this?

hello, that sounds as if the ctrl-key on your keyboard is misfiring - can you try with different hardware?

as an alternative you could try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once - if it's not happening there, then maybe an addon is interfering here...

You can also check for problems caused by plugins.

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled
  • the default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored
  • the default toolbar layout is used (localstore-safe.rdf)
  • the Javascript JIT compiler is disabled
  • hardware acceleration is disabled
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected
