I downloaded Adobe Flash player 11,9,900,117 updating from 094 to 117. I use http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about to determine what version I am running as well as the current version of Flash. I did this using IE Explorer. So I thought I was current. Then while using Firefox, I ran flash check and it came back telling me I was running 11,8,800,XXX> so I used that Firefox session to download and install 800,117 again. Then when I ran the adobe check it showed I was running the current version.

It is almost like Firefox has a separate version of flash player?? The scary part from a security perspective is Was I actually running an old version of Adobe Flash ever since I installed Firefox?? Looking at he version number, 11,8,800,XXX (didn't write down the actual number), would have bee about current for when I started using Firefox. Surely I should not have to get each new adobe version with explorer and then get it again with Firefox to stay current? Can anyone help explain or fix this. I like Firefox, but.................

There are 2 versions of Flashplayer. There is an ActiveX version for IE only and a Plugin version for most other browsers. When updating Flashplayer on a Windows system, you should update both. IE has a different way of installing and a different file that is recognized only by IE to run in the IE browser. OSX has its own "DMG" installer - see below.

You can accomplish this by visiting any of the Adobe pages that offer to update Flashplayer with EACH type of browser, or you can download and Save the "EXE" version for Windows ("DMG" for OSX) for each to your hard drive, close all browsers, run the installers.
