I am using Thunderbird 24.6 for mac...when I use the delete button to delete a read email, I click on the delete button and usually the next one or two unread emails get deleted...I have deleted my accounts and removed the program and then reinstalled it and I am still hsving the same problem...very annoying situation...any assistance is appreciated.

Replace your mouse. The button is going bad and issuing a double click when you single click.
