Can't delete emails after receieving 30,000 in one go

Hello, 

Last night either twitter or our email had a mad moment and we've received almost 30,000 emails from twitter (one them so-so is now following you) this has crashed thunderbird, we can't delete them now, or mark them as read and when we had managed to delete some of them them they just keep coming back!

Urgent help would be great please

leave it an hour of so to be sure the mails have actually arrived, been indexed and scanned by your anti virus. My guess is one of those things is still happening, perhaps all of them and you doing something with the mails is actually making it worse.
