It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Add-ons.
  2. In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
  3. Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
  4. Click the Remove button.
  5. Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

After Firefox restarts, install the Search Reset Tool. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.

For further information, please read Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page.

You may also want to check for malware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Did this fix the problem? Please let us know!

There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar and search for prefs that refer to that website. You can reset user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.

CoryMH that was very good. Well done.

Settings Guard for Firefox {web link} Detects and resets changes to settings that are frequently done by add-ons and application installers.

dear cor-el:

Actually I have the Advanced System Care and it's odd that it can't take care of this nor on Internet explorer The only action is when windows starts working there is an attention comes below mentions that something wants to change home page modification and my responses do not matter .

and for the about:config I am reading the articles it doesn't seem to be easy but I am trying to make it work

thank you for your time :)

Thanks FredMcD, I hope to get even better.

Hi Bahar70,

The Search Reset Tool is an add-on that installs and removes itself once it completes its job.

As cor-el mentioned, Advanced System Care's Surfing Protection feature might be preventing you from making changes to your home page. Before you installed Search Reset Tool, did you disable that protection?

Disable AVG for now.

Hi Bahar70, I have not installed Advanced SystemCare, but somewhere in its settings, you should be able to turn off this feature of changing your home page at Windows startup.

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.

Dear "Cor-el":

I checked the target line and this was written on target : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://sayfa.im/?utm_source=0&d=170414&fp It was written the same on Internet Explorer, So I deleted the last part on both browsers ... It did work on IE and tnx to you all especially dear "Cor-el" it is gone from "IE", (the home page set on IE is locked and does not allow me to set home page on my own )but thanks God it is not anasayfa:)

Unfortunately it didn't work on firefox and it's really frustrating :( thank you again

Did you verify that you kept the change to the target line?

Does it help if you add your home page instead after the firefox path on the target line?

You can possibly set that desktop shortcut to read-only via the Properties. You can also try to search the registry for sayfa.im

You can open the about:config page via the Firefox location/address bar and search for prefs that refer to sayfa.im. You can reset user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.

...

I do something wrong but I don't know where .... wish to find it out soon .

thank you for every solution you recommend...

You said you installed "Settings Guard for Firefox." This add-on prevents changes to user preferences. Disable it. Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} Then check the settings. If they are correct, then enable Settings Guard. If not, leave if off until the problem is fixed.

I have disabled AVG and also home page security of Advanced system care before, and about "search Reset", as I said before ,again after I install it when I click on that or close the extensions tab it goes away

[it is on the pic attached...I click on the link ,when I wanna install it ,the window appears to warn me about "install add-ons only from authors you trust (author not verified)" then it comes in extensions but it doesn't stay there]

more options

That is OK. The SearchReset extension runs once to do its job and then automatically uninstalls itself, so you should be seeing it in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" if everything went OK.

The extension reset some prefs, among them the prefs for the home page and the new tab page.

more options

OK, there is an explanation about how it does the work such as : - reset "browser.startup.homepage" pref to its default value - reset "keyword.URL" pref to its default value - reset "browser.search.defaultenginename" pref to its default value

is it ok if I do it myself on about:config and Reset those 3 ?

more options

You can if you want, the add-on would do it for you if you want.

Hi , Thank you every one , Dear " cor-el , FredMcD , CoryMH , jscher2000 "

Thanks to you all now I don't have to see that "Yandex" page on my home page I did everything you said , Although it's not fully removed and sometimes shows up but it's better than seeing it every time you open the Firefox!

Again tnx for your time and patience and helpful solutions ^_^
