Please can anyone tell me where I find temporary directory settings as some of my messages I try and send say "failed to send message C:\Users\Tina\AppData\Local\Temp\nsmail.tmp please check your temporary directory settings" I have had quite a few like this not being sent and I don't know what to do to fix it.

Try to start *Windows* in safe mode with networking enabled.

- Win8 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode

- XP http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode.
