Links in emails worked prior to the update. (Chrome browser). If I log into the web based email (Gmail & Yahoo) the links still work just fine.

Another new development, every time I close and reopen TB, I get the message: Do you want to allow the program to make changes to this computer?

Did I get a corrupted file?

check this: In "Default Programs", click on "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" make sure all the following files and protocols have Google Chrome set as current default File extensions:

Run through all the checks to make sure your browser is set as default.

Thanks for the link.

Unfortunately that appears to be an old article with some old info. The "Wrench Tool" doesn't exist in Chorme and Windows 7 is the latest version mentioned in that artice. (I'm running 8.1)

But yes, when I click the 3 bars menu button in Chrome, then go to "settings", and scroll down to "Default Browser" it does say: "The default browser is currently Google Chrome."

What else should I check?

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also navigated to:

Search > Control Panel > Default Programs > Set your default programs > I then chose Google Chrome from the list on the left > clicked "Set this program as default" and got the confirmation message "This program has all it's defaults"

Still not working???

re :I get the message: Do you want to allow the program to make changes to this computer?

close Thunderbird. check to see if Thunderbird is set to run as Administrator. Right-click the Thunderbird desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".

Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

Compatibility mode: 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' should not be selected Privilege Level: 'Run this program as Administrator' should not be selected

You can check the permissions by selecting the 'Security' tab

click on 'Apply' and 'OK'

Re open Thunderbird.

THANK YOU!!!

Thank you Toad-Hall...

I can't tell exactly which "tweak" worked because I checked them all before doing a restart, but I'm back in business. TB is working like it did prior to the update. Great info...

Much appreciated.
