Copied hard drive contents from MacBook Air to new MacBook Pro (OS X 10.10.3). On launch, Thunderbird displays pinwheel indefinitely and must be force quit. Previous email file structure appears to be intact. Updated Thunderbird to 38.0.1, but no change in behavior. Starting Thunderbird in safe mode does not help.

What happens if you reinstall Thunderbird from http://getthunderbird.com/ ?

Thank you for the suggestion. But I did update to 38.0.1 from http://getthunderbird.com/ as you suggest and the problem persists.

I'm receptive to any other suggestions.
