I can't add a search engine to Firefox

I have recently refreshed my Firefox after an installation took over. Everything is back inplace except I have no default search engine and nothing happens when I click the magnifying glass in the search bar and it will not open the search page in options.

hi, if you had adware/malware on the system it may have got rid of all "competing" search engines... please try to download and reinstall a fresh copy of firefox from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ in order to regenerate the default search engine entries.
