How do I stop Mozilla Firefox from changing my homepage and new tab options when I shut down my computer?

I have my homepage set to www.yahoo.com and my new tab option to open a blank tab. For some reason both change to search.yahoo.com whenever I shut down my computer and turn it back on. How do I stop this from happening?
