Prior to Thunderbird update/upgrade to 38.2.0 messages alerts worked. These were message count in Thunderbird Icon on task bar, envelope icon on tool bar turned blue, New Mail Alert: Message Preview Text, Subject, Sender appeared, and also sound alert played. After update/upgrade only the sound plays, and message count work regularly. The envelope Icon turns blue occasionally. Rechecked all configurations. I then added the following add-ons: Blinking Alert 1.2.0, Mailbox Alert 0.16.4, and Messaging Menu and Unity Launcher Integration 1.3.1. These did not work either. Currently running Ubuntu 14.04.3. Thunderbird is not Elm.

Any help or guidance in correcting this will be appreciated.
