Why do I have to close and restart TB after my computer has been sleeping in order to receive emails

Whenever my computer goes to sleep for longer than, say, an hour, when I wake it up TB 38.2.0 won't retrieve emails from comcast until I close and restart TB even though I can go directly to comcast and see there are emails waiting to be downloaded.
