Hi

I have an Apple iMac, and use Time Machine as the back-up mechanism. I used to use Apple's 'mail' application, but had all sorts of problems with it, so switched to Thunderbird which is much better. I store a lot of historical e-mails in very structured local folders within Thunderbird.

From what I can work out, e-mails held 'within' Thunderbird are NOT backed-up by Time Machine. Am I right? Assuming I am, how do I back-up these e-mails?

Regards

John Bugler

I'm not a MAC user, so I have no idea what time machine does or doesn't.

You'd need to backup your Thunderbird profile folder while Thunderbird is closed. Check this article for more information on the profile location. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird#Mac_OS_X

Backing up the profile is as simple as copying the folder to a safe place. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Backing_Up_and_Restoring#Manually_back_up_the_profile

Thanks. This moved me forward, but I now have a problem on the 'Apple' side of things. I'll engage with the Apple support community.
