I recently converted from Eudora to Thunderbird, and imported my Eudora addresses.

To help understand my question, please refer to the attached .jpg file!

When I do a search for an e-mail address in the "All Address Books" section of the Address Book in Thunderbird, a list of addresses comes up as shown on the right-hand side of the image. Once the list of addresses comes up, how can I determine which of the sub-folders in the "Eudora Nicknames" section, on the left, contains the address? When I right-click on an address in the listing on the right, none of the options seems to indicate where the address is located. The only way I can find the location for an address is to go to each sub-folder an search it individually.

Also, when I delete an address, it comes back up if I do a search for it.

Thanks for your help!

No screenshot…we need it because "subfolders" as such aren't supported in Thunderbird's Address Book, so we need to be able to see what the import from Eudora has done about them.

You can add a column for "address book" to the top right pane in the address book which will at least tell you which address book a Contact is listed in. Here, if I select a Contact, the lower pane has a button that lists the Mailing Lists of which that Contact is a member. But none of this might make any sense until we understand how Eudora's subfolders or nicknames have been interpreted.

To change the columns in this and other listings in Thunderbird, click on the little square button in the top-right corner.

Thunderbird's Address Book does have things that look like subfolders, but they are in fact Mailing Lists, and are similar to Groups or Distribution Lists in other email clients.

I tried to upload two different files, but they were taking forever to load, so I sent the message hoping that they would upload as the message was being sent. Apparently that did not happen, so I guess that is the next question... How do you upload files??!!

Just keep trying. I don't know why, but at present the first attempt frequently stalls, whilst subsequent attempts go through quickly. I then cancel the first upload. ;-)

Hover over the thumbnail and you'll see an X that lets you cancel the stalled upload or undo a successful upload.

Zenos,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

Here is another attempt to send you the display of my address book...

Well, the upload has been going for about an hour, and it isn't done yet. And, when I hover over the rotating "sunburst," I get no "X" to cancel it.

Is there an e-mail address I can use to send you the display of my address book?

Thanks,

Jack...

why not use drop box or the like and just post a link.
