How can I remove a disabled add-on

more options

Firefox has disabled one of my extensions that I no longer use, called Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF. It does not have a "remove" button in the dropdown menu for add-ons, nor does it show up in the list of extensions when I use the manual method in about:plugins recommended by Mozilla. Yet the disabled extensions still shows up in my list of extensions in the tools menu of Firefox. Any way to get rid of it??

Did any of these troubleshooting tips work, if not I can only think of actually going into the profile folder directory and deleting the addon files there and restarting Firefox:

Could not find the addon I want to remove in the extensions folder in the profile folder. Found one text string relating to the Adobe addon in a profile document called "extensions.json" and deleted it, but the extension still show up in my tools menu. The damn thing just won't go away.

Finally found the pesky extension and deleted it. Hooray. It was not in the users profile folder but in the library/applicationsupport/mozilla/extensions folder.

For future reference, the extensions.json file, though hard to read, does list the location of the various extensions on disk. This thread gives an example of how to make the file more readable: How to remove Disconnect and Disconnect Search extensions?
