There is no direct import of live mail. If you have the mail and contact on say the live mail server (hotmail/live/outlook.com then I would suggest simply configuring the account as IMAP in Thunderbird and allow the mail to synchronize. If you must import mail from Live mail (the program), there a multiple versions with slightly different storage systems)s which really make a manual import difficult. I would really suggest one of the paid mail converters that convert EML to MBOX as a minimum or live mail to Thunderbird (basically the same thing but understanding lives folder structure and making MBOX files for each folder.)
