I can't add bookmarks to home screen. This option is not available. In the menu under page there is no option to do this. When I press and hold web page address no option to do this pops up. I recently changed phone from Xperia e5 to zx1 compact. Always had this option on my e5. I have a screen shot of the page options.

Do you mean your device's home screen? Normally if you long press the address of the current page in the address bar, or if you long press a bookmark, the last item on the menu is Add to Home Screen.

For bookmarks, the menu is very long, so if you are in landscape mode, you need to swipe the menu up. On Android 6 the scroll bar fades out, so that may be causing the confusion.
