Hi.

Two add-ons I use regularly and have done for years are FireGestures and FEBE. FireGestures is a mouse gestures add on, highly customisable and I'm so used to using it I try to do the mouse gestures when I'm not even in FF.

FEBE is a back up add-on for almost everything in Firefox from bookmarks to appearance, to settings, to all your add-ons and when you back up in FEBE you get one file that can be used to mirror how you have FF set up, all your settings, all the add-ons, all your add-ons settings, bookmarks, layout. So if you need to reinstall FF, you download and install the vanilla FF, install the FEBE add-on then use FEBE to locate the saved info file and in 10 seconds flat you've got Firefox back exactly as you had it.

So, since these are now legacy on Firefox Quantum, I need alternatives. I don't think they'll be getting updated for Quantum, I know for definite FEBE isn't.

So what options are out there? I'm sticking with 56.0.2 until I find alternatives to these two add-ons and if it becomes not safe to stick with 56.0.2 I'll go somewhere else but after more than 10 years or so with FF it would be a wrench.

TIA

Can try this : https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/

More will be added as people build them but some of this was done for Security due to too much access allowed : https://www.howtogeek.com/333230/why-firefox-had-to-kill-your-favorite-extension/

Info : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use do to security issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

That extension finder is a real find.  :)

It found one alternative for FireGestures albiet more limited due to API's or something. Nothing there for FEBE.

Thanks for the heads up on the ESR version. I've downloaded it and will install it tomorrow and check it out. It's 3am here so too late now but thanks again.

Welcome Note that is a short term solution only and extension/addons will be deleted in the future there. If this solves your issue please mark it as solved so gets out of the Needs Attention Tab Thank You.
