I am running 66.0b2 (32-bit) and trying to send a mail merge to list of about 40 people.

I found https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/mail-merge/, but I am reading "This add-on is not compatible with your version of Thunderbird."

Is there any compatible mail merge option with the current version of TB?

Use general release software and not beta versions if you want add ons that work. 60.5.1 is the latest release.

ok, thanks. I have 6 email accounts configured. Can I safely downgrade and not have to re- setup my accounts?

Your settings and data are seperate from the program. It is still a good idea to do a backup on a regular basis. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data
