Why did Adblock suddenly stop working in firefox and firefox won't let me reinstall or re-download it?

Yesterday, May 3, 2019, adblock just suddenly stopped working. No warning, no pop-up message, just in the middle of watching a YouTube video and I was interrupted by an ad and that how I noticed. It was working fine up until then (wasn't the first video I'd watched that day, for example). Firefox wouldn't let me re-enable it for no given reason, wouldn't let me reinstall it (said it was somehow "corrupt"), and won't let me re-download it (gives me some B.S. about having to "check my connection").

What's going on and how do I fix it?

hi phow, this is/was caused by an unforseen technical problem unfortunately (an expired certificate used in the process of verifying addon signatures).

a fix for this is already being rolled out - for details, please see: https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2019/05/04/update-regarding-add-ons-in-firefox/
