Today Google flagged my log-time email as deliverable because Google has designated Thunderbird as an unsafe email client. Is there a work-around so I can continue to send and receive emails using my current (user name@gmail.com) address? I hate to suffer through changing this email account name change, notifying all of my address contacts, sales and purchase customer customer accounts, banks, friends, and etc. (All who contact me using email). This is a terrible situation. What are some suggestion for me to minimize the burden?

Thunderbird is not unsafe. Gmails use of words is designed to scaremonger. Gmail wants you to use it's webmail account via a browser or in Thunderbird use IMAP (which keeps your emails on their server) using Authentication Method: OAuth2.

Gmail is deliberately blocking you. This is very common and nothing to worry about. They deem all email clients as 'less secure apps'.

If you use a POP mail account or an IMAP mail account that uses Authentication Method: Password, then gmail is a pain and wants you to select to use what gmail calls 'less secure apps' option. Providing you use a decent password then you are just as secure. see info on switching on 'less secure apps'.

If youa re using an IMAP maila ccount then you could choose to use the option: 'OAuth2'. In this instance, gmail asks you to logon at prompt and then a token is created by gmail and stored in the same place as the passwords in Thunderbird. From then onwards when accessing server to get emails, gmail will use the token instead of the password.
